Red Duiker

NEW SCI # 1 NATAL RED DUIKER (pending)

July 2010, Claude, his wife Sonia and myself went hunting in Mozambique. Coutada 11 is a great concession with many good trophies around. Claude harvested his leopard the first night and his sable the following day. How is that for a good start!

The following days brought a great Nyala, warthog, reedbuck, Cape Buffalo in the Maromeu swamps (but that is an other story on its own …), beautiful Lichtenstein Hartebeest, Chobe Bushbuck and outstanding Livingstone Suni and Red Duiker.

I have been hunting these pygmee antelopes for over 15 years, and I was in for a big surprise when I discovered the quantity of these 2 specimens in the sand forest on Coutada 11. The Livingstone Suni make SCI # 6, and it was possibly not the biggest around. The red Duiker was indeed big, almost resembling a grey duiker and it will make … THE NEW SCI WORLD RECORD! It scores 13” 8/16 … unreal!

Well done Claude, and see you next year for some new adventures!
