La chasse du Bongo ici est un peu celle du Sitatunga en Ouganda dans le sens ou la densit\u00e9 est telle qu\u2019il n\u2019y a pas une journ\u00e9e sans action. Joseph, ex-braco et pisteur hors pair, se \npr\u00e9pare un petit abris de feuilles en attendant les premi\u00e8res gouttes. \nIl \u00e9tait d\u00e9j\u00e0 pisteur il y a 20 ans sur la m\u00eame r\u00e9gion avant la \nfermeture, et il a aussi travaill\u00e9 comme conducteur de machine sur \nl\u2019exploitation foresti\u00e8re, il connait toutes les pistes principales, \nsecondaires, les bretelles, les salines, les \u00ab bailles \u00bb (clairi\u00e8res \nmar\u00e9cageuses) \u2026 Le d\u00e9luge arrive dans un fracas assourdissant, on \nn\u2019arrive plus \u00e0 s\u2019entendre dans la voiture alors on ferme les yeux en \nattendant que \u00e7a passe. C\u2019est un rituel depuis 4 jours, il pleut de 13 \n:00 \u00e0 15 :30, sc\u00e9nario id\u00e9al pour la chasse du Bongo et du C\u00e9phalophe \u00e0 \ndos jaune qui aiment tant sortir sur les pistes apr\u00e8s la pluie\u2026 Ce sont 3\n hyloch\u00e8res qui traversent tranquillement devant nous \u00e0 moins de 20 \nm\u00e8tres, le spectacle est assez exceptionnel pour en parler, c\u2019est notre \ntroisi\u00e8me rencontre de visu avec ces gros suid\u00e9s de for\u00eat, si nombreux \nsur cette zone. Ils sont prot\u00e9g\u00e9s au Congo mais nous avons bon espoir \nd\u2019obtenir un quota dans un an ou deux.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Comme souvent pour la chasse en for\u00eat pluvieuse, nous op\u00e9rons sur une\n grande zone de for\u00eat primaire en cour d\u2019exploitation. La cohabitation \navec les forestiers fut d\u00e9licate au d\u00e9part, mais elle est maintenant \nsolide et b\u00e9n\u00e9fique. Les acc\u00e8s \u00e0 la for\u00eat au Nord de la rivi\u00e8re Sangha \nsont barr\u00e9s et contr\u00f4l\u00e9s par les \u00e9quipes \u00ab d\u2019\u00e9co-gardes \u00bb, et m\u00eame si le\n braconnage existe comme partout, il est peu important et encore plus \ndiminu\u00e9 par la pr\u00e9sence de nos \u00e9quipes de chasseurs. L\u2019acc\u00e8s aux \nconcessions de chasse est facile et peu on\u00e9reux utilisant les vols \nr\u00e9guliers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-gallery columns-2 is-cropped wp-block-gallery-5 avons une autre \u00e9quipe s\u2019occupant des formalit\u00e9s et du transfert en taxi jusqu\u2019\u00e0 la rivi\u00e8re Sangha. 5 minutes de pirogue et un peu plus de 2 heures de piste pour se rendre au camp o\u00f9 nous arrivons g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement vers 14 :00<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-gallery columns-3 is-cropped wp-block-gallery-6 is-layout-flex les repas surplomb\u00e9e d\u2019un joli bar tr\u00e8s a\u00e9r\u00e9. Un barbecue \/\n feu de camp devant la rivi\u00e8re proche compl\u00e8te les installations. \nL\u2019\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 est fournie par un groupe \u00e9lectrog\u00e8ne.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Ca y est, il neige, on peut y aller annonce Joseph<\/strong> \u2026\n La \u00ab neige \u00bb est la petite pluie fine apr\u00e8s les averses. Nous d\u00e9cidons \nde remonter une bretelle et ce sont 3 hyloch\u00e8res qui traversent \ntranquillement devant nous \u00e0 moins de 20 m\u00e8tres, le spectacle est assez \nexceptionnel pour en parler, c\u2019est notre troisi\u00e8me rencontre inopin\u00e9e \navec ces gros cochons de for\u00eat les deux premi\u00e8res fois en parcourant les\n pistes en voiture, maintenant \u00e0 pied sous une pluie fine. Ils sont si \nnombreux sur cette zone. Aujourd\u2019hui prot\u00e9g\u00e9s au Congo, nous avons bon \nespoir d\u2019obtenir un quota dans un an ou deux. Puis c\u2019est un buffle nain \nque l\u2019on trouve allong\u00e9 au milieu de la piste, un vieux m\u00e2le aux pointes\n tellement us\u00e9es qu\u2019il ne lui reste plus que le bandeau ! Mais nous \navons d\u00e9j\u00e0 un buffle pr\u00e9lev\u00e9 il y a quelques jours, et c\u2019est le \nc\u00e9phalophe \u00e0 dos jaune qui est \u00e0 l\u2019ordre du jour. Beaucoup de traces \nfra\u00eeches sur les pistes chaque matin, principalement bongo, buffle, \n\u00e9l\u00e9phant, c\u00e9phalophes (dos jaune et Peters), potamoch\u00e8re, gorille et \naussi parfois temps normal, chacune de ces traces serait une aubaine, une action de chasse en perspective, le point de d\u00e9part d\u2019une longue marche en for\u00eat avec l\u2019espoir de remonter l\u2019antilope mythique. Mais ici, la densit\u00e9 est telle que nous chassons principalement \u00e0 vue ou \u00e0 la billebaude. Le dos jaune sort beaucoup apr\u00e8s la pluie et la piste sur laquelle nous marchons est truff\u00e9e de traces. L\u2019id\u00e9e est de le croiser sur la piste en marchant lentement sans bruit. Michael, guide Namibien faisant la saison au Congo, reste \u00e0 la voiture. C\u2019est une grande ligne droite et il nous voit souvent de loin. Nous suivons plusieurs traces sur quelques dizaines de m\u00e8tres avant de les voir entrer \u00e0 nouveau dans la for\u00eat. Nous avons d\u00fb croiser une vingtaine de traces diff\u00e9rentes en 2 heures de marche lorsqu\u2019un c\u00e9phalophe bleu traverse devant nous \u00e0 30 m\u00e8tres. Pas le temps de tirer, il n\u2019a fait que traverser tranquillement la piste. Je demande \u00e0 Joseph de l\u2019appeler, technique diablement efficace en for\u00eat sur ces animaux, la carabine de Georges est sur le tr\u00e9pied, nous sommes pr\u00eat lorsque la voiture arrive derri\u00e8re nous. N\u2019ayant pas demander \u00e0 Michael de nous rejoindre, je devine qu\u2019il \u00e0 rep\u00e9rer un c\u00e9phalophe \u00e0 dos jaune. C\u2019est un grand m\u00e2le de dos jaune qui est sorti dans notre dos pendant que nous marchions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nous repartons donc sur nos traces, Michael \u00e0 pris le soin de marquer\n l\u2019endroit o\u00f9 l\u2019animal est \u00e0 nouveau entr\u00e9 en for\u00eat. 10 minutes de \nmarche rapide et je rep\u00e8re bient\u00f4t le petit bout de papier blanc jetter \nsur la piste par Michael. On se poste en bordure de chemin sans vraiment\n nous cacher mais en restant immobile. Nous pensions utiliser des  chiens sur le Bongo comme d\u2019accoutum\u00e9 dans les pays voisins, et nous en  avions m\u00eame deux que les pygm\u00e9es gardaient au camp. Seulement voil\u00e0,  avant m\u00eame d\u2019avoir test\u00e9 leurs habilit\u00e9s \u00e0 mettre le Bongo au ferme, un  l\u00e9opard des environs en avait dispos\u00e9 \u00e0 d\u2019autres fins \u2026 C\u2019est donc  contraint et forc\u00e9 que nous avions commenc\u00e9 la saison sans chiens l\u2019an  pass\u00e9, et tout le monde \u00e0 eu son bongo dans les 3 premiers jours des  safaris, souvent rep\u00e9r\u00e9 \u00e0 vue dans une contre-all\u00e9e en passant en  voiture, o\u00f9 en stoppant le v\u00e9hicule sur des traces tr\u00e8s fra\u00eeches  d\u2019animaux marchant sur la piste. Quelques minutes de marche permettent  alors souvent de rep\u00e9rer l\u2019animal glanant quelques feuilles la t\u00eate dans  les buissons. Nous avons aussi quelques miradors sur les salines et  autres clairi\u00e8res mar\u00e9cageuses appel\u00e9es ici \u00ab Bays \u00bb par les pygm\u00e9es.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-gallery Il a \nbeaucoup plu et le niveau de l\u2019eau est haut dans toutes les rivi\u00e8res de \nla r\u00e9gion. Le courant est aussi un peu plus fort et l\u2019acc\u00e8s aux rivi\u00e8res\n de for\u00eat n\u2019en ait que plus d\u00e9licat. On a install\u00e9 un flotteur \u00e0 l\u2019avant\n de la pirogue pour plus de stabilit\u00e9, Michael et son chasseur russe \nOleg ont test\u00e9 l\u2019embarcation la vieille avec brio, ils sont revenus avec\n un magnifique sitatunga pr\u00e9lev\u00e9 dans une jolie plaine inond\u00e9e, tir\u00e9 de \nla pirogue \u00e0 un peu plus de 50 m\u00e8tres. Nous avons \u00e9galement un mirador \nsurplombant une partie de ces rives herbeuses inond\u00e9es, mais il est \ntemporairement utilis\u00e9 par une immense colonie de fourmis \u00e9go\u00efstes \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Oleg va aussi pr\u00e9lever un joli buffle, un c\u00e9phalophe \u00e0 dos jaune et quelques c\u00e9phalophes de for\u00eat ainsi qu\u2019un gros Nous les voyons souvent \ntraverser la piste proche des ponts construits avec ces \u00e9normes troncs \nd\u2019arbres permettant le passage des camions grumiers. C\u2019est bient\u00f4t chose\n faite, Andr\u00e9 pointe ces jumelles pour identifier l\u2019animal traversant la\n piste lorsqu\u2019un Sitatunga passe dans son champ de vision !!! Une belle \naubaine que T.D. ne manquera pas de saisir !!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Tielman n\u2019a qu\u2019une semaine \u00e0 passer au camp<\/strong>, il \nrecherche un bongo et un buffle de for\u00eat. Il sait avoir peu de temps \npour pouvoir les pr\u00e9lever \u00e0 l\u2019arc dans de bonnes conditions, \u00e0 notre \nconnaissance, personne n\u2019a jamais pu pr\u00e9lever de bongo \u00e0 l\u2019arc son \nl\u2019aide de chiens ou de mirador, ce serait une premi\u00e8re \u2026 Premier jour, \nil revient au camp bredouille, ils ont vu des bongos mais en ayant d\u00e9j\u00e0 \npr\u00e9lev\u00e9 un l\u2019an pass\u00e9, il \u00e0 mis la barre un peu plus haute. Le \nlendemain, il revient avec un superbe buffle tir\u00e9 \u00e0 45 m\u00e8tres \u00e0 la \ncarabine, il n\u2019avait pas son arc \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">R\u00e9veil 4h, d\u00e9part 5h le lendemain \u00e0 la recherche du Bongo. Il faut \nenviron 40 minutes de piste pour acc\u00e9der \u00e0 l\u2019ancienne exploitation et \nces nombreuses pistes, id\u00e9al pour la chasse du Bongo. Il a plut la nuit \nderni\u00e8re et nous trouvons beaucoup de traces sur la piste principale. On\n d\u00e9cide de partir \u00e0 pied en marchant lentement sur la piste. Tielman \u00e0 \nson arc et une carabine. Le brouillard se dissipe maintenant permettant \nde voir un peu plus loin. Un magnifique bongo solitaire se gorge de \nfeuilles humides en bordure d\u2019une piste secondaire. Approche rapide, le \ngrand m\u00e2le n\u2019est plus qu\u2019\u00e0 80 m\u00e8tres et notre chasseur d\u00e9cide de \nl\u2019ajuster avec la .375 H&amp;H Magnum. Il sera foudroyer sur place, il \nfaudra donc revenir une autre fois pour tenter cette premi\u00e8re de bongo \u00e0\n l\u2019arc et \u00e0 l\u2019approche \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Au d\u00e9tour d\u2019une piste, un grand c\u00e9phalophe de Peters<\/strong>\n se d\u00e9robe sous nos yeux. Nous stoppons imm\u00e9diatement la voiture avec le\n mince espoir de voir notre animal revenir au milieu de la piste \u2026 peu \nprobable, mais pourquoi pas apr\u00e8s tout \u2026 On se pr\u00e9pare, attend 10 \nminutes et le grand c\u00e9phalophe traverse \u00e0 nouveau la piste devant nos \nyeux \u2026 Georges ajustera son tir qui va foudroyer l\u2019animal dans ses \ntraces. Disons que certains  coins ne seront jamais visit\u00e9s \u2026 trop grand, trop sauvage ! L\u2019activit\u00e9  actuelle tourne autour de la chasse avec un total de 20 Bongo en quota,  m\u00eame chose pour le Buffle, Sitatunga et Dos Jaune. Les autres esp\u00e8ces ne  sont pas un probl\u00e8me, il y a en effet \u00e9norm\u00e9ment de c\u00e9phalophes et  potamoch\u00e8res. Il est en projet de d\u00e9velopper \u00e9galement un camp de vision  pour les gorilles et chimpanz\u00e9s, tr\u00e8s pr\u00e9sents dans la for\u00eat. Il existe plusieurs esp\u00e8ces de poissons dont le poisson tigre Goliath, end\u00e9mique au basin du fleuve Congo, c\u2019est de loin le plus gros de la famille des poissons tigres. Le record est actuellement de plus de 70 kg pour 1m50, et certain dise qu\u2019il puisse attendre jusqu\u2019\u00e0 130 kg !!!
